Governor Corbett Enacts Landmark School Reforms, Increases Funding
June 30, 2012– Delivering on his commitment to reform Pennsylvania’s public school system, Governor Tom Corbett today signed into law legislation that will bring sweeping changes to improve the quality of the state’s education system.

Budget Information

Summary of State Education Appropriations
The following file contains a summary of the enacted funding levels for Department of Education appropriations in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

Basic Education Funding
The enacted budget includes $5,403,629,000 for the 2012-2013 Basic Education Funding appropriation.  This amount is a $49,000,000 increase (0.92 percent) over the enacted State appropriation for 2011-2012.

Special Education Funding
The enacted State budget includes $1,026,815,000 for the 2012-2013 Special Education appropriation.

Secondary Career and Technical Education Subsidy
The enacted State budget for 2012-2013 includes $62,000,000 for the Career and Technical Education appropriation. This amount is the same amount appropriated in 2011-2012 for the Career and Technical Education.  This appropriation allocates an estimated $49,639,000 for the Secondary Career and Technical Education Subsidy (SCTES).

Pennsylvania Accountability Grants (Excel)
The enacted budget includes $100,000,000 for 2012-2013 Pennsylvania Accountability Grants.
